Okay... so for those of you who do not know... I have been dieting for the last three months... and have been doing pretty well. I have lost 30 pounds. (As embarrassing as that is to admit... I still have about 20lbs more that I want to go!) So now with that background let me tell you the following story:
Seth and the kids were feasting on their healthy dinner of french toast, bacon and hot chocolate. It was very painful for me to watch as Seth makes the BEST french toast! (Second only to a place in Portland where they took actual gooey cinnamon rolls and sliced them up, dipped them in batter, and then fried them into perfection. :) I, on the other hand, am sitting there and eating my chicken breast, celery and onion mixture on a low-carb, whole wheat wrap. (Doesn't sound very good after theirs does it?)
Connor (who is well aware of my dieting) turns to me and says, "Why are you dieting anyway, Mom? You look exactly the same. You aren't losing any weight."
WOW! Thanks for noticing Connor!
Talk about making me feel like crap in a matter of seconds! I look at Seth and he can see me on the verge of tears.
Seth quickly chimes in to try and make me feel better, "Mom has lost a lot of weight and she looks great!"
Thanks Sweetie... but the damage was done!
Apparently Connor did not get it all off his chest because he feels the need to add... "You should try to look like Jacob's mom. She is REALLY skinny AND tall!"
He is referring to his Aunt Heidi. For any of you who do not know my sister in law; she has birthed 4 children, is maybe 110 pounds and probably 5' 10''. Not to mention a total hottie! She is an anomaly!
So now "the dear" not only wants me to obtain a weight that I have not been since the 7th grade... but he wants me to GROW another 5 inches to top it off? At that point I was ready to let him MOVE IN with his Aunt Heidi!
I stopped eating my wrap.
Kids, you love them you... love them some more :) Shayna has done that to me and I actually start crying right then and there. They just don't get it. I think you look great and are doing amazingly well. It is so hard not to eat the good stuff when everyone else is :) You are so strong and I know you will get to your goal and stick with it. Keep on going :)
ReplyDeleteI'm super proud of you, Tiffany! We all have things about us we can't change (like our height???), but there are so few people willing to work on weight because it's not easy. My hubby comes from a family of very large people who struggle with weight all the time, so it's a constant issue for us. Good for you for committing and losing 30 pounds! That's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteTiffany, great job on losing 30 pounds! That is an accomplishment and so hard to change eating habits especially when the kids and husband are downing yummy treats all the time. I know that you can see a difference and Connor just doesn't know what he is talking about! Plus, if Heidi wasn't so amazing sweet, we would definitely all hate her. Don't worry, the kids always tell me that I have a big bum or that I am a "big" mom, etc. Keep up the great work! I am so impressed!
ReplyDeleteConnor sees you everyday and so I think that makes a difference. Plus he is 7 so he doesn't even know what to look for. It is so apparent to everyone else how great you look! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteTiff, you seriously look amazing! You can really tell you've been working hard. Keep up the good work, you're doing awesome!

Please post what you have been doing to lose 30 pounds in 3 months! I have been stuck at the same weight for almost 2 weeks, GRRRR! You should also post some before and after pictures :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! Before and after pictures!
ReplyDeleteTHIRTY POUNDS?!?! You are AWESOME!! That is so cool and inspiring....you need to tell me your tricks....and they better not include dieting and exercise cause I can't do those! ;)-
ReplyDeleteI do love Connor and his witty remarks!!
You gotta love kids...I could write a book with the things my kids have said about me and my weight...Awesome job on the 30 lbs...funny you lost that...I gained that since living up here. Funny how things work out. You look great and I'm sure it makes you feel great too. I need someone up here to kick my butt to the gym. It's hard when you only have 1 car. Anyways...so proud of you, you're more than half way there. Great job!
